He was born in Boston, Massachusetts to Yiddish-speaking Jewish parents who immigrated from Ukraine. He started acting at the tender age of 8. He was in the Army from age 22 to 24.
In addition to acting, he has worked as a writer, poet, musician, and photographer of naked obese women. But he has always and shall always be most recognized for his role as the character Spock in the Star Trek franchise.
He has been acting pretty steadily from 1951 to the present, though not often in high profile roles. His endeavors outside of acting and non-scifi are relatively few, though he is known to have had a love/hate relationship with the character as he wanted a separate identity that the world would not afford. His latest well-known acting role was as Spock in the reboot of the Star Trek franchise.
